BOLTING OPERATOR CERTIFICATION

In order to increase safety and ensure quality, AMA Anläggning (a Swedish standard) now states that all operators performing bolting operations undergo a training course focused on bolting in order to attain a certification. Edvirt®, which is accredited by the Swedish Rock Engineering Association, provides the course regularly at various locations. The certification is now required in all major tunneling projects in Sweden, such as E4 Stockholm Bypass (E4 Förbifart Stockholm), the New Subway (Nya tunnelbanan) and the West Link (Västlänken).

The certificate can be obtained from the Swedish Rock Engineering Association by those who participates in and passes the course, has minimum two months of practical bolting experience, and passes an exam. All participants, no matter experience, can attend the course and will get a course certificate at completion.

Note: There is now also a certificate for Site managers and Construction managers. It’s however the same course required for it.

INFORMATION

The course is aimed at operators, supervisors or persons in managing positions. The course meets the requirements from the Swedish Rock Engineering Association as stipulated in their educational plan. 

The goal with the course is to ensure that people have the necessary basic knowledge to perform bolting with good quality and provide understanding of the broader issues beyond the actual procedure of installing a bolt. After completion of the course participants must be informed with the risks involved with bolting, which provides the prerequisites to perform the work with a good working environment.

The course is held in Stockholm and Göteborg and all course material and literature is provided. Lectures are held by Edvirt’s® trainers who have gone through a qualification evaluation process in conjunction with Edvirt® been accredited as a training course provider by the Swedish Rock Engineering Association.

There is one certificate for Operators and another one for Site manager and Construction manager. It is however the same course for both certificates, just different requirements when it comes to work experience.
